The Desk Edit | Look 01:No. 02: Styling The Atelier
Last week, The Desk Edit opened with The Modern Founder: chrome, marble and clean lines. This week, the same desk becomes something completely different.
The Desk Edit is our weekly series at The Studio Co. Each week we take the same desk in our Central Coast photography and content studio and restyle it for a different kind of business owner, using pieces from our in-house furniture and props library. Same desk. A new business every week.
No. 02 is The Atelier.

Who this look is for
Fashion and bridal designers, eveningwear labels, stylists, makeup artists, illustrators and anyone whose business is made by hand. An atelier is a designer's workroom, and this desk is styled to feel like one: soft, feminine and full of colour, with the work in progress on show.
The palette: cream, brass and a run of pink
Where The Modern Founder was black, white and chrome, The Atelier is warm and soft. Cream and ivory come through the lamp, the bouclé lounge chair and the plush seat. Polished brass adds warmth. Then a single colour story, pinks running into reds and purples, repeats across the art markers, the open book spread and the two gowns.
Repeating one colour family across several pieces is what keeps a colourful set looking edited rather than busy. Your eye travels from the markers to the book to the gowns and reads it all as one idea.
The props, and why we chose them
The gowns on the arched garment stand
Two tiered organza gowns, one in rust and one in magenta, hang on an arched garment stand beside the desk. They turn a desk into a designer's workroom in one move, and they show something important for fashion clients: there's room in this studio to bring your own pieces in and style them as part of the set.
The acrylic chair
A clear acrylic chair with an arched back and a plush cream round seat. Because it's transparent, it lets the light and the desk show through, so the set stays airy even with a lot going on. The arch also echoes the shape of the garment stand.

The pleated lamp
A pleated linen shade on a speckled cream fluted base. Its folds pick up the vertical lines of the sheer curtains, and the soft, slightly
romantic shape sets the mood for the whole desk.
Brass pots of art markers
Two polished brass pots filled with dual-tip art markers in pinks, reds and purples, plus a small brass cylinder. The markers are the working tools of a designer or illustrator, so the desk looks used rather than just decorated. The brass catches the sun and warms up the dark timber.

The bouclé lounge chair
A sculptural cream bouclé lounge chair sits in the corner beside the desk. It adds texture and a second seating spot, giving you a relaxed alternative to the desk for portraits and lifestyle shots in the same set.

For a personal brand session on this set, a good shot list covers you seated at the desk mid-sketch, standing with your pieces on the garment stand, hands at work with your own tools, a relaxed portrait in the lounge chair, and close-ups of your products, fabrics or designs.
